Today Lato Networks announces a new alliance partnership with storage vendor Coraid. Coraid has been selling its products since 2004 delivering the fundamental building blocks for scaling out storage projects for virtualization, disaster recovery, high-performance computing, and cloud storage.
Coraid are redefining storage economics by providing a radically
simplified SAN topology based on ATA over Ethernet (AoE) which
provides impressive price/ performance combined with massive
throughput and marked ease of implementation and management.
Coraid combines off the shelf hardware, Ethernet networking and
scale-out virtual storage architecture that can grow from a few
terabytes to multiple petabytes with a mix of SAS/ SATA and SSD
drives. The solution is designed for the emerging virtualized
datacentre, with both VMWare and Hyper-V seeing Coraid as locally
attached disks. In addition, functionality including mirroring,
snapshot, cloning and asynchronous replication are available to
meet enterprise demands.
Ethernet SAN is an extremely fast and simple method for sharing
disk drives through a low latency network. Since Ethernet SAN
doesn't require TCP/IP, it has less overhead, lower latency and
automatically utilises all network paths. Coraid's EtherDrive
storage products take full advantage of Ethernet SAN's simplicity
to deliver storage that will out perform Fibre Channel and
iSCSI.
